Bureau states that a hack on Microsoft compromised political and personal information.
U.S. Representative Don Bacon of Illinois said that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) informed him that his email accounts had been hacked by spies of the Chinese government. The hack was apparently part of the larger hack on Microsoft email accounts last month, which led to Congressman Bacon’s campaign information, political strategies, and bank account information becoming compromised.
“There were other victims in this cyber operation,” Representative Bacon stated. “The Communist government in China are not our friends and are very active in conducting cyber espionage.”
A spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy denied Congressman Bacon’s claims called Bacon’s claims “groundless,” and said that the U.S. violated Chinese sovereignty by selling weapons to Taiwan.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Representative Bacon and others affected by the email hack.
- For FBI cyber officials as they seek to protect legislators and government leaders from hackers.
- For U.S. .cyber security experts to improve the protections of email and other information systems.
